For those of you who don’t know, I have a 90 pound sheprador (half lab, half German shepherd) dog that needs 2 hours of walks a day. My husband was willing to do one, but because he works a physically demanding job, two were too much for him. So, when Peggy told me that Camp Artaban was desperate for volunteer leaders, I said I’d love to go but I have my dog, and I can’t afford to pay for his walks, so Peggy told me that she would take care of that. I only knew of one person who could take my dog for walks, so when she said that she couldn’t do it, I set my efforts to finding someone else. This was not an easy task, because Benji is a very unique dog with lots of past trauma. I spent 7 hours emailing, talking to and bringing people on walks with me before I found a person. I was set to leave on Sunday morning, and on Saturday afternoon (the day before), the person texted me to say that they had a family emergency and was no longer able to help out. I burst into tears and told my husband that I couldn’t go. He told me that there was one person that he could try who doesn’t usually respond to calls, emails or even knocks on the door. This person is also known to work 7 days a week, 12 hours a day. However, it was a miracle. This person both answered the door when my husband knocked,  was free and available AND wanted to take on the task! I was able to go and my dog was looked after!!! Praise God!
