Lynne and Gerald "tie the knot"

Sunday's service ended with the usual period of parish announcements - but one really took the cake! Lynne called Gerald up to the pulpit and happily announced that she and Gerald had "tied the knot" just two days earlier, in a small ceremony at the VST chapel at UBC. 

Lynne and Gerald were presented with a bouquet of heart-shaped helium balloons from server Jonathan, who had learned of the surprise news just 45 minutes earlier when Peggy and he had dashed out during the sermon to pick up the balloons whilst talking about the lectionary readings en route. Elizabeth had arranged a marvellous lemon layer cake, of which the congregation made short work during coffee hour.

A congratulatory card was quickly circulated, and the happy couple sent home with many hugs and best wishes.
