Lynn Valley Day may be called off this year - but let's use the day to gather some locals and celebrate the community anyway!
Would you like to be part of an informal network that can respond to neighbourhood needs in a practical and effective manner - and have fun along the way? Come to an initial gathering so we can see if we can establish Common Ground, for the common good! If you're someone who likes to meet your neighbours, roll up your sleeves for the common good, and spend time taking action rather than making (endless) action plans, we'd love to see you.
We have had some past community tragedies in Lynn Valley, such as the fires at Silverlynn Manor; there are also individual families who struggle with great challenges most of us never hear about. At times like that, most of us want to "do something," but often don't know how to help. Or perhaps an idea for a great community project or charitable activity springs to mind, and we just need a group of like-minded people to donate a few hours of time to make it happen. That's where Common Ground comes in!
You may already be part of a community organization that does some of this work - your expertise would be welcome! Or perhaps you belong to a school, non-profit or workplace and you could be a Common Ground contact so we can tap into their needs or their skills. Or maybe you're simply a Lynn Valley local interested in meeting some new people and doing some good in the world.
All are very welcome - come alone, or bring a friend. Common Ground is non-partisan, non-religious, and non-boring! St. Clement's will provide the space and the goodies, and get the conversation rolling. Let's see what we can build together from there! Future gatherings will be shaped by the decisions we make together.
If possible, please RSVP to Peggy Trendell-Jensen, deacon at St. Clement's, so refreshments can be planned accordingly. Depending on weather and attendance, we'll be meeting in St. Clement's downstairs hall or outside in Creekside Commons on the north side of the church. St. Clement's is located at 3400 Institute Road, across from Lynn Valley playing field.
We're looking forward to meeting you - let's make it a happy day for Lynn Valley, even if it's not Lynn Valley Day!
(Psst! A downloadable poster is available below if you'd like to help spread the word!)
