We are all experiencing "sticker shock" at the grocery store, and many in our churches and neighbourhoods are really feeling the pinch of so many cost-of-living increases. With that in mind, we are launching two programs to help us feed neighbours who are struggling, and to also share food amongst ourselves to ensure nothing goes to waste!
HARVEST PROJECT BOX
St. Clement's parishioners are always generous in their donations of food on Thanksgiving Sunday, but of course the need is all year through. The Harvest Project has a growing number of low-income seniors and working families who need help getting enough food on the table. With that in mind, we have had delivered to the church a Harvest Project donation box that we hope can be kept nourished with your regular contributions. Our Sunday attendance has grown a great deal in these past months - imagine if even half of us remembered to bring a tin of food or a bar of soap on any given week! Please try to think about this ministry when you are doing your grocery shopping, and add an item or two to your basket if you can.

SHARING TABLE
Gordon had a great idea at harvest time - let's pass around the bounty of our garden at Coffee Hour! People were invited to bring garden or grocery produce that was in good shape but risked going uneaten if left at home. (The same might go for a loaf of bread or a few muffins!) It went really well and we were happy to see people taking some of the produce home and using it as the start of their Sunday supper. So look for the Sharing Table at Coffee Hour, and please donate anything that is FoodSafe and needs to be adopted! And please do help yourself; we don't want any perishable food to go to waste. Any questions, comments, or feedback? Please talk to Peggy.
