In June, St. Clement's hosted an initial gathering of Common Ground, a new network of neighbours and reps from local organizations who are interested in "lending a hand, when we can" when Lynn Valley folks find themselve struggling with unexpected challenges.
We had a great first meeting, and Brenda Stenson and Deacon Peggy have since created an email account and WhatsApp group to keep members connected. A questionnaire has also gone out that helps us understand what skills and resources group members may have on hand to offer.
On Saturday, September 26, we'll be gathering again to move the discussion forward, and to roll up our sleeves on our first project - welcome kits for the new residents of Dovercourt House who will be moving in some time later this fall. These are men embarking on a recovery program and the good wishes expressed by means of this care kit will mean a lot. Please click below for some ideas of items you may wish to donate - we'll have a collection box at the back of the church.
