Re: Section Lead (SLs) for SATB choir

UPDATED June 30, 2025

The Parish of St Clement, 3400 Institute Road, North Vancouver is seeking to engage four section leads to support our Sunday morning SATB choral program.  Soprano and Tenor section lead positions are currently open.

Hours:

Three (3) hours total per session for 20 sessions spanning Sept 21, 2025 till May 28, 2026 for the dates indicated below.

Duties:

  • Provide musical leadership for section (i.e. Baritone SL provides musical leadership for baritones). SLs need to have the ability to teach their section the tune in a 4-part harmony hymn as well as answer basic musical questions around phrasing, interval jumps, accidentals, etc.  Musical leadership may entail anything from answering questions such as “what songs were rehearsed last week?” to specific technical questions such as “is there an easy way to make a successful jump for this tritone?”. In the event that the SL is not able to answer the question, they may confer with other section leads or the Music Director.
  • All music selections can be found in advance on our website in the Members' Area of our website.
  • Take careful note of details in rehearsal, such as phrasing, breathing, pronunciation etc., so that exact details can be communicated to members.
  • Be willing to take initiative in the absence of the Music Director (e.g. lead a warm-up).
  • Strive for personal artistic growth
