Helen's extended study leave

Helen will be taking an extended study leave June 01-August 31 with a focus on strengthening adult Christian formation at St Clement’s. Helen will be researching and reflecting on three streams during her time away: 1) prayer, 2) the gospels, and 3) learning the history of Indigenous peoples in British Columbia as a non-Indigenous learner.

To support this learning, Helen will travel to Indigenous cultural and historical sites in B.C. recommended by the St Clement’s Indigenous Ministry Leader. Helen will study the synoptic gospels and Palestinian theology at the Vancouver School of Theology’s Indigenous Summer School. Finally, Helen will be writer in residence at Penny Lou Cottage on Bowen Island, a “quiet space for authors and illustrative storytellers to enter into the sacred art of creation.”
