DESCRIPTION:You are welcome to bring your pet for a special Pet Blessing to
day and to help celebrate Harvest Thanksgiving!\nWe ask that if you choose
to bring your pets\, you follow a few guidelines as well:\nBest practices
\n\nThese are the “Best practices for dogs in church” adopted by the P
arish Council in 2022. The best practices recognize two things: 1) the gro
wing number of people in our neighbourhood for whom having a companion ani
mal with them enables them to come to church and to worship (this is a ver
y good thing)\; and 2) how welcoming companion animals into our worship sp
ace might affect the whole of the community\, particularly those who are a
fraid or uneasy around animals. \nOur best practices at St Clement’s in
clude: \n1. Keeping your companion animal on a leash at all times when on
the St. Clement’s premises (indoors and outdoors) \n2. Keeping your co
mpanion animal out of the aisles once inside the church\n3. Meeting the re
ctor to ensure the companion animal interacts well with people (children i
n particular)\n4. A willingness to remove your companion animal from the c
hurch if and when they’re giving you those signals that they’re becomi
ng distressed (e.g. barking\, whining) \n5. When your companion animal is
interacting with someone\, checking first to make sure that person is oka
y with dogs\nFinally\, please consider the size of your dog when discernin
g whether they’re a good fit for church. If the pews are fuller than usu
al\, please opt to leave your dog at home or in your vehicle (windows crac
ked for air) so there is adequate seating for people in the pews. \nThank
you\, and we hope to see you there!\n\n \n
